What Pediatricians can do to Protect Children from Lead

Webinar
Ayesha Akhtar (30) came to the Upazila Health Complex in Fulgazi, Feni, for her third delivery. She lived in South Baraia with her family. When floodwaters entered her house, she and her family moved to a neighbor’s house. There, she went into labor, was admitted to the hospital, and gave birth to a baby the next day. Her daughter is now playing with her newborn brother.

Lead is poisoning around one in three children globally on a massive and previously unrecognized scale. Lead poisoning is a major contributor to intellectual disability among children in low- and middle-income countries and is a public health hazard in every region of the world, contributing to disease burden, disability and death.
