Lead in blood of children in Georgia

Nutsa was one of the 1,570 children, randomly selected for the nationwide survey of blood lead levels in UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) in 2018. The MICS results showed that 41 per cent of children in Georgia had more than 5 μg/ dL lead in their blood. In the Adjara region of the country, where Nutsa lives, the survey found 85 per cent of children had elevated blood lead levels. Watch this video to learn more about Nutsa's story.
