Watch this video to learn how children absorb more pollutants relative to their size and are less able to eliminate toxic substances from their bodies compared to adults – putting them in greater danger. Children are at-risk even before they are born because exposure to heavy metals during pregnancy can cause harm to the developing fetus. Children under the age of 5 have rapidly developing brains and any exposure to toxicants during this period can have consequences for the rest of their lives. We need to urgently protect our children from environmental pollutants because for every child that gets poisoned, we lose a piece of our future. Every child has the right to a healthy environment.
