Confronting the impacts of the climate crisis on child rights, health and wellbeing
Official side event of the 60th sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB60)/Bonn Climate Change Conference 2024
In-person event only, a recording of the event will be made available afterwards.
Date: Monday, 3 June 2024, from 16:15 to 17:30 CEST
The climate crisis is not just changing the planet. It is changing children. Children are uniquely vulnerable to pollution, deadly diseases, and extreme weather, and they are disproportionately affected by the impacts of disasters. Yet despite clear evidence of the need for child-focused action, children’s needs, rights and perspectives remain largely absent from climate policy, action and investment at all levels. As policymakers gather for the Expert Dialogue on Children and Climate at the 60th session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB60), this official child-focused side event will explore and present the evidence for action and solutions that will ensure the rights of children are respected, promoted and considered in all aspects of climate action. Attendance is open everyone in-person at the Bonn Climate Change Conference 2024.
