The Partnership for a Lead-Free Future hosted this webinar to provide practical guidance on addressing childhood lead poisoning through a whole-of-government approach.
This approach ensures coordinated actions between multiple actors and in this way is intended to draw from the relevant expertise in each agency and thus result in more holistic responses. It can include inter-departmental (between departments), intra-departmental (within departments), inter-agency (between agencies) and/ or inter-sectoral (between public and private sectors). By coordinating work to end childhood lead poisoning, this approach can be both more effective and cost-efficient than existing mechanisms.
Speakers:
- Dr Fahmida Khanam, Additional Secretary (Environment Division), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh
- Lela Sulaberidze, Head of the Strategic Development and Analytics Department at the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Georgia
- Bret Ericson, Environmental Health, UNICEF (moderator)
This webinar is part of the Lead-Free Future for Every Child series and marks the fourth installment. Be sure to revisit earlier sessions: the first webinar, which explores sources of childhood lead exposure, the second that delves into conducting blood lead level surveys, and the third on how to conduct an environmental lead exposure risk assessment.
